Ave Acer Mors An epic as monstrous as it is momentous, Spiritual Bloodshed is a suffocating voyage into spiritual suffering and boundless hedonism. Triumvir Foul have really honed their sound here, fielding a visceral and merciless assault on the listener. Nonetheless, the music retains its sprawling, labyrinthine character due to its grimy and organic production. Liquefying flesh and spewing slime, this is one of 2017's finest albums. Favorite track: Disemboweled Pneuma.

Expanding beyond the themes of occultism and mythological allegories of the self-titled first album, Spiritual Bloodshed takes on a much more direct approach, clenching at the throat of one's putrid desires. An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight).
