Slaughter Lord originally formed in May 1985 under the name Onslaught but changed the band moniker shortly afterwards due to the English band of the same name.

In the mid 80s, when extreme, harsh, brutal death and thrash metal was emerging, Slaughter Lord laid down one of the most ferocious demos in the underground ever heard. The three track 'Taste Of Blood' demo was released in December 86 and circulated through the worldwide underground all the way from the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. Testament to this are the thanks Slaughter Lord gets on Bathory's 'Under The Sign of the Black Mark', Assassin's 'The Upcoming Terror' and Sepultura's 'Schizophrenia'. Albums that, for their time, marked a truly unique and hungry metal spirit, completely untainted by mainstream influence or interest. Truly a golden age for the death metal underground

Slaughter Lord did not last long and this compilation features two of the only proper studio tracks the band ever recorded outside of the 'Taste of Blood' demo as well as four tracks from a rehearsal.

It may be difficult to understand and appreciate Slaughter Lord in the context of refined engineering practices, squeaky clean death metal records and the mainstream success that some bands have achieved since the late 80s, but 'Thrash til Death 86-87' exemplifies a time when things were black and white, hard and heavy with no fucking frills. As Slaughter Lord themselves put it in the 80s "...live for metal, play for bangers, die for death!"
